Temporary traffic and transport arrangements for Central-Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link works this Sunday

     The Transport Department (TD) today (September 26) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Wan Chai and Eastern District between 2.30am and 6am this Sunday (September 29) to facilitate the construction works of traffic signs of the Central-Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link.

     The temporary traffic and transport arrangements mainly include:

(i) The section of Victoria Park Road eastbound between Gloucester Road southbound and Hing Fat Street will be temporarily closed.

(ii) The section of Island Eastern Corridor eastbound between Victoria Park Road eastbound and Hing Fat Street will be temporarily closed. No vehicles will be allowed to access Island Eastern Corridor eastbound from Victoria Park Road eastbound.

(iii) A section of the fast lane of Island Eastern Corridor westbound from a point 800 metres before its junction with Victoria Park Road westbound to the same junction will be temporarily closed.

(iv) Subject to traffic situation, vehicles on Moreton Terrace may not be allowed to turn right onto Causeway Road eastbound. Affected vehicles heading for Causeway Road eastbound will be diverted via Causeway Road westbound, Irving Street, Pennington Street and Yee Wo Street.

(v) Affected vehicles heading for Island Eastern Corridor eastbound and Eastern District will be diverted via Causeway Road eastbound and Hing Fat Street.

(vi) During the road closures, overnight cross harbour bus routes N118 (Siu Sai Wan bound) and N368 (Central bound) will be temporarily diverted via Gloucester Road southbound and Causeway Road eastbound.

     Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and members of the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
