Seasungame, the online game subsidiary of Hong Kong-listed Mainland company Kingsoft Corp, announced the launch today (September 26) of its first locally published game. The company sees the game as the start of its global expansion plan.
Seasungame's Hong Kong office began operations in April this year, and is focusing on developing and distributing various client, web and mobile games. This first locally published game is a role-play game called "Crazy Western Journey". Seasungame Assistant President, Mr Gong Daojun said that the Hong Kong team will be responsible mainly for marketing and publishing the game.
"We hope that the new game will help us know more about Hong Kong players' habits and demands, so that we can design more games and services that better fit their needs," Mr Gong said.
He added, "We have also created a dedicated Facebook page so that our clients can get the latest news and information about our games."
Seasungame is one of the several creative industry companies that Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) has recently helped to set up in the city. Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Andrew Davis welcomed Seasungame's arrival. "Hong Kong is known for its creative freedom, so it is a preferred destination in the region for overseas and Mainland investors in the creative industries. Gamers in Hong Kong generally have high disposable income, which is another reason why companies like Seasungame are keen to set up here and expand," Mr Davis said.
