Hongkong Post announces "Love Post Day"
***************************************

Hongkong Post announced today (September 26) that it will run "Love Post Day" on October 9 for the 10th year to celebrate the pleasures of letter-writing. "Love Post Day" is an initiative in support of World Post Day, an annual event to commemorate the establishment of the Universal Postal Union on October 9, 1874.

"Messages sent through the post convey a sense of heartfelt care. Show your appreciation to your loved ones on 'Love Post Day' with a handwritten message, and let Hongkong Post be your messenger," said the Postmaster General, Mrs Jessie Ting.

Hongkong Post invites all in Hong Kong to take part in "Love Post Day" on October 9 this year by sending a personal letter to a local recipient. These letters will be collected at specially marked collection boxes at all post offices for next-day delivery, free of charge.

To encourage those more accustomed to electronic communication to send their personal messages by physical mail, Hongkong Post is offering a 50 per cent discount for its popular "Make My Card" Personalized Service at www.shopthrupost.hk from today to October 9 this year. This user-friendly service converts electronic messages from the sender into a physical card for postal delivery to the recipient.

Further information about "Love Post Day" can be obtained at any post office, as well as the Hongkong Post website www.hongkongpost.hk and the Hongkong Post hotline at 2921 2222.
