Special traffic arrangements in New Territories during Chung Yeung Festival

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements in New Territories to facilitate grave-sweepers and to ensure smooth vehicular traffic movements and pedestrian safety during Chung Yeung Festival.

New Territories South
---------------------

I. Kwai Chung

     To facilitate visits to Tsuen Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery and Kwai Chung Crematorium, the following traffic arrangements will be implemented on October 6, 12, 13, 14 and 20:

- Southbound Wing Tak Street, Wing Yin Street and a section of Wing Shun Street between Wing Tak Street and Kwai Hei Street will be closed to all vehicles, except for hearses, franchised buses and emergency vehicles, from 7am to 5pm and on any other dates if necessary;
- A section of Wing Kei Road between Kwai Hei Street and Wing Kin Road will be converted to one-way southbound. Vehicles will only be allowed to enter Wing Kei Road via Wing Kin Road;
- Wing Chong Street, Wing Hau Street and Wing Lap Street will be closed to all vehicles except for emergency vehicles; and
- Temporary taxi stands will be set up on Wing Kin Road near its junction with Wing Kei Road; Kwai Hei Street near its junction with Wing Shun Street; Wing Shun Street near its junction with Wing Yin Street; and Wing Shun Street near its junction with Yi Lok Street.

     In addition, Wing Yin Street and Wing Hau Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic, except for hearses, franchised buses and emergency vehicles, from 7am to 5pm on September 29 and October 5,19 and 27.

II. Sha Tin

     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented in the vicinity of Po Fook Memorial Hall and Fu Shan Crematorium in Tai Wai, and Po Fook Hill in Sha Tin between 7am and 6pm on September 28 and 29, October 1, 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 26 and 27:

- A section of Lower Shing Mun Road between Yau On Street and Fu Shan Crematorium will be closed to all vehicles except for hearses, vehicles taking part in funeral processions, for green minibus (GMB)route No. 64K and emergency vehicles; and
- A section of Pai Tau Street west of its junction with Sheung Wo Che Road will be closed to all vehicles except for emergency vehicles.

III. Tsuen Wan

     A section of Lo Wai Road between Lo Wai Pai Lau and Yuen Yuen Institute (YYI) will be closed to all vehicles, except for GMBs, taxis, emergency vehicles and vehicles with permit, from 8am to 5pm on October 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20.

     All metered parking spaces outside YYI, near Lo Wai old bus terminus and at Lo Wai Road near Yi Pei Chun Road will be suspended during the above road closure period.

     In addition, all parking spaces insde YYI and all metered parking spaces on Lo Wai Road near Lo Wai bus old bus terminus and outside YYI will be suspended from 9am to 5pm on September 29 and October 27.

New Territories North
---------------------

I. Sandy Ridge

     Sandy Ridge Frontier Closed Area will be opened to grave-sweepers between 6am and 6pm daily from September 29 to November 3. However, vehicles without Closed Road Permit (CRP) will not be allowed to enter the closed area.

     Between 6am and 6pm daily on October 6, 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20, Lo Wu Station Road from its junction with Man Kam To Road to a point of about 280 metres west near the cemetery management office will be closed to all vehicular traffic except for emergency vehicles, vehicles of Lo Wu Village residents with CRP and vehicles with CRP allowed to park at the car park of MTR Lo Wu Station.
    
II. Tuen Mun

     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented in Tuen Mun on October 1, 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 26 and 27 from 7am to 7pm:

- Tsing San Path and the access roads leading to Ching Chung Koon and Ching Chung Sin Yuen will be closed except for emergency vehicles;
- A section of Tsing Chung Koon Road between Tsing Lun Road and San Fuk Road will be converted to one-way northbound;
- A section of San Fuk Road between Leung Shun Street and Castle Peak Hospital will be converted to one-way westbound;
- Two temporary pick up and drop off points will be provided at westbound Tsing Lun Road outside Tuen Mun Hospital and northbound Tsing Chung Koon Road opposite to Tuen Mun Hospital;
- A temporary taxi stand will be provided at northbound Tsing Chung Koon Road near Castle Peak Hospital; and
- The GMB stop at Tsing San Path will be suspended. Passengers may use the stops at westbound Tsing Lun Road outside Tuen Mun Hospital and at northbound Tsing Chung Koon Road opposite to Tuen Mun Hospital.

III. Wo Hop Shek

     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented on September 28 and 29, October 1, 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 26 and 27:

A. Road closure

     The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 6am to 5pm except for emergency vehicles and those specified below:

- Kiu Tau Road, except for hearses;
- Ming Yin Road, except for franchised buses;
- Wo Ka Lau Road; and
- All access roads within Wo Hop Shek Cemetery.
 
B. Banning of turning movements

     Vehicles travelling on northbound Pak Wo Road outside Fung Ying Seen Koon will not be allowed to turn right to southbound Pak Wo Road; and vehicles travelling on southbound Pak Wo Road outside MTR Fanling Station will not be allowed to turn right to the car park on Pak Wo Road near Fung Ying Seen Koon.

C. Suspension of car parks and parking spaces

     The following car parks will be closed and parking spaces suspended between 7am and 5pm:

- The car park on Wo Hing Road near Ming Yin Road roundabout, except for emergency vehicles and taxis;
- The car park on Pak Wo Road near Fung Ying Seen Koon, except for emergency vehicles, drivers with disability to use the disabled parking spaces, and public buses of the residentsˇ¦ service route No. NR112 and depending on the situation, vehicles carrying elderly or disabled passengers may be allowed to use the car park for interchange with shuttle buses heading for the cemetery; and
- All parking spaces on Wah Ming Lane, except for emergency vehicles.

D. Suspension of taxi stands

     The taxi stand on Lui Ming Road outside Wah Ming Estate will be suspended, except for New Territories taxis, from 7am to 5pm. However, all taxis will be allowed to pick up or drop off passengers in the car park on Wo Hing Road near Ming Yin Road roundabout during the suspension period.

     The taxi stand in the car park on Pak Wo Road near Fung Ying Seen Koon will be suspended from 7am to 5pm.
 
     Vehicles parked illegally would be towed away without prior notice. Motorists are urged to drive with care and patience.

     Actual implementation of special traffic arrangements will be made at the time depending on conditions in the areas.
