Research Grants Council Public Lecture on green and renewable energy to be held on September 28

The following is issued on behalf of the University Grants Committee:

     The Research Grants Council (RGC) will present the third public lecture this year on September 28 (Saturday) at the Hong Kong Science Museum on the theme "Green and Renewable Energy".

     The RGC has invited Professor Daniel Ong of the Department of Physics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Professor Dennis Leung of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong to share their research findings and knowledge with the public. Details are as follows:

Time: 2.30pm to 4.30pm
Venue: Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Science Museum
Language: Cantonese
Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis.

     Professor Ong will give a talk titled "Sustainable Energy in Hong Kong and Worldwide". The talk will give a general introduction on sustainable energy, different  renewable energy sources and current frontier research in Hong Kong and worldwide.

     Professor Leung's lecture is titled "Advanced Researches and Worldwide Trend of Biofuels Development", covering conventional and advanced research in biofuels and related worldwide development trends.
 
     Since 2009, leading scholars in their respective fields have been invited to deliver public lectures organised by the RGC. These lectures aim at arousing the public's interest in local research development.
