*****************************************************

Hongkong Post today (September 9) announced that a set of special stamps entitled "Hong Kong Buses" will be released for sale with associated philatelic products on September 24 (Tuesday).

Buses have been plying the roads of Hong Kong for the better part of a century. Nowadays, with a territory-wide network, buses provide millions of commuters with convenient and reliable services every day. Hongkong Post is issuing a set of special stamps entitled "Hong Kong Buses", featuring seven prototypes of buses from different decades, including Tilling-Stevens Bus, Daimler A, Albion Coach, Leyland Olympian 11m, Volvo Olympian 11m, Dennis Trident and Euro V Bus. The stamp issue offers an overview of the development of buses in Hong Kong.

Adopting the design of an old-style Chinese calendar, this set of six stamps showcases the evolution of Hong Kong buses. The stamp on the $20 Stamp Sheetlet is printed in lithography and has a lenticular effect. Three Euro V buses are set against a backdrop of the magnificent views of Victoria Harbour in the daytime, at twilight and at night to signify the round-the-clock bus services in Hong Kong. Moreover, Hongkong Post is introducing the first Serviced First Day Covers affixed with a set of stamps or a stamp sheetlet and date-stamped with a colour postmark, making them precious collectibles for philatelists and bus fans, and will offer them for sale at all philatelic offices.

Official First Day Covers will be on sale at $1.20 each at all post offices from September 10. The stamps and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office, Sha Tin Central Post Office and Tuen Mun Central Post Office from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from September 10 to 16.

Information about this special stamp issue and associated philatelic products is available on Hongkong Post's website at www.hongkongpost.hk and the Hongkong Post Mobile App.
