United Nations Sanctions (Sudan) Regulation 2013 and United Nations Sanctions (Sudan) Regulation (Repeal) Regulation gazetted

     The Government today (August 30) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Sudan) Regulation 2013 (the 2013 Regulation) and the United Nations Sanctions (Sudan) Regulation (Repeal) Regulation (the Repeal Regulation). Both the 2013 Regulation and the Repeal Regulation will come into operation on September 6, 2013.  

     "The 2013 Regulation and the Repeal Regulation implement sanctions against Sudan imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 2035 and previous Resolutions," a Government spokesman said.

     The sanctions under the 2013 Regulation include:

* prohibition against the supply, sale, transfer or carriage of arms or related materiel to certain persons connected with Sudan;

* prohibition against the provision of assistance or training related to the provision, manufacture, maintenance or use of prohibited goods to certain persons connected with Sudan;

* prohibition against making available to certain persons or entities funds or other financial assets or economic resources, or dealing with funds or other financial assets or economic resources of certain persons or entities; and

* prohibition against the entry into or transit through the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region by certain persons.
