FEHD cancels licences of two food premises in Tsuen Wan
*******************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene cancelled the licences of a food factory and a light refreshment restaurant in Tsuen Wan today (August 25), as the operators repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the business area.

The food factory is located on the ground floor (portion) at No. 6 Yi Pei Square while the light refreshment restaurant is at shop C on the ground floor of Tsuen King Building at 83-93 Hoi Pa Street and 3-5 Tsuen Hing Path.

"Six convictions for the breach were recorded against the food factory between last October and this May, and the light refreshment restaurant also had a record of six convictions between last July and this January," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $13,000 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee of the food factory under the department's demerit points system. Meanwhile, a total fine of $5,550 was levied by the court and 120 demerit points were registered against the licensee of the light refreshment restaurant," he added.

The breaches led to business suspensions of the two food premises for four to 14 days late last year and earlier this year. The accumulated points resulted in the cancellation of the licences.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
