New applications invited for Community Care Fund Training Subsidy for Children who are on the Waiting List of Subvented Pre-school Rehabilitation Services
**********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Community Care Fund Secretariat:

The Community Care Fund (CCF) announced today (July 31) that a new round of applications will be invited for the Training Subsidy for Children who are on the Waiting List of Subvented Pre-school Rehabilitation Services Programme, administered by the Social Welfare Department (SWD), to benefit more eligible children.

Launched in December 2011, the Programme aims at providing a training subsidy for pre-school children from low-income families and in need of rehabilitation services, so as to enable them to receive necessary services as soon as possible to facilitate their learning and development. Eligible children can receive subsidised training services, that is training/therapy services provided by special child care workers, psychologists or occupational therapists/physiotherapists/speech therapists and family support services from service providers recognised by the SWD. The Programme was extended in November 2012 and the maximum monthly subsidy has been increased to $2,615 since May 2013.

To benefit more eligible children, the SWD will invite a new round of applications from today till October 31, 2013. Eligible children can receive subsidised training services up to March 31, 2014, at most. Beneficiaries must be on the waiting list for subvented pre-school rehabilitation services on or before June 30, 2013, and their monthly household income should not exceed the prescribed income limit. Children who are existing beneficiaries of this Programme are not required to make new applications.

For children who have not applied for this Programme but may be qualified, the SWD will issue letters to invite applications from their parents/guardians. Applicants have to submit the completed application forms together with all necessary documents by post or by hand to the CCF Team of the SWD on or before October 31, 2013. It is expected that eligible children who are new applicants will start receiving services from August 2013 at the earliest.

For details of the Programme, please visit the CCF website (www.communitycarefund.hk) or the SWD website (www.swd.gov.hk). For enquiries, please call the SWD hotline (tel: 2343 2255) or the CCF Team of the SWD (tel: 3422 3090).
