The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today (July 26) gave the following response to the judgment in respect of the judicial review on, among other things, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report and the Environmental Permit (EP) for the Integrated Waste Management Facilities Phase I as approved by the Director of Environmental Protection:
The EPD welcomes the judgment from the Court of First Instance which upholds the Director of Environmental Protection's decisions on the EIA report and the EP. The EPD has been reviewing every single EIA report and potential environmental impacts strictly in accordance with the requirements, principles and procedures stipulated under the EIA Ordinance. The EPD will continue to work, as in the past, in strict accordance with the EIA Ordinance in order to protect the environment.
