The long-awaited "Bruce Lee: Kung Fu ? Art ? Life" exhibition will be held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum from July 20 and will last for five years. To assist the public in visiting the exhibition during the summer holidays, the museum will tomorrow (July 4) launch online reservation of tickets for the first two months (from mid-July to mid-September) after the exhibition opens.
A spokesman for the Hong Kong Heritage Museum noted that Bruce Lee, a household name in Hong Kong, was an internationally acclaimed martial arts movie star. It has been four decades since he passed away, but his charm has not faded.
"The exhibition has gathered more than 600 precious relics and memorabilia items related to Bruce Lee from a number of local and overseas collectors on loan for display. Though the exhibition will last for five years, we expect that the exhibition will attract a large number of visitors, especially students and tourists, during the summer holidays. To avoid overcrowding, we will arrange viewing sessions and online reservation of tickets during the early stage of the exhibition," the spokesman said.
There will be five viewing sessions on weekdays and six per day on weekends and public holidays, except on Tuesdays when the museum is normally closed. Each session, which will last about one hour and 30 minutes, can accommodate about 400 visitors.
The viewing sessions on weekdays are:
10.15am to 11.45am, 11.50am to 1.20pm, 1.25pm to 2.55pm, 3pm to 4.30pm and 4.35pm to 6pm
The viewing sessions on weekends and public holidays are:
10.15am to 11.40am, 11.45am to 1.05pm, 1.10pm to 2.35pm, 2.40pm to 4pm, 4.05pm to 5.30pm and 5.35pm to 7pm
The museum will introduce online reservation of tickets for the first two months after the exhibition opens. Visitors can, via email, reserve tickets for a time slot that fits their schedule. The quota will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who reserve tickets successfully will need to present a printout of the confirmation notice when purchasing their reserved tickets and collect the special exhibition admission slip at the museum's box office or enquiry counter 30 minutes before the commencement of the respective time slot (except for the first session). Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) museum pass holders are also required to collect the special admission slip for free with a printout of the confirmation notice at the museum's enquiry counter.
Online booking for each session can be made until one hour before the start of the session. The unreserved quota will be released for door sales. Those who have made online reservations are advised to purchase the tickets and collect the special admission slips before the designated time. Otherwise, their reservations will expire 30 minutes after the commencement of the booked session and the tickets will be released for door sales.
Online reservation will be launched in two phases. The first phase will start at 10am tomorrow (July 4). Visitors will be able to reserve tickets covering the period from July 20 to August 19 through the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's online reservation website at blor.lcsd.gov.hk . The second phase of ticket reservation, covering the exhibition period from August 20 to September 20, will start at 10am on August 1. Interested parties will only be allowed to make reservations for a maximum of three viewing sessions and four tickets for each session during each phase of online reservation while the quota lasts.
Presented by the LCSD, and jointly organised by the Bruce Lee Foundation and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the "Bruce Lee: Kung Fu ? Art ? Life" exhibition is one of the highlight programmes of "Vibrant Hong Kong" under the territory-wide "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign.
Since the exhibition is classified as a permanent exhibition of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, visitors will only need to pay the museum's standard admission fees for visiting the exhibition without additional charges. However, visitors will be required to present the special admission slip for admission to the exhibition. Standard admission to the Hong Kong Heritage Museum is $10 with a half-price concession available for full-time students, people with disabilities and senior citizens aged 60 or above. Admission is free on Wednesdays.

The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is located at 1 Man Lam Road, Sha Tin. It is open from 10am to 6pm on weekdays, and from 10am to 7pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. It is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays). Paid car parking is available at the museum. Those who prefer to use public transport may take the MTR Ma On Shan Line and get off at Che Kung Temple Station, which is within three minutes' walk of the museum.
