Re-appointment of Hong Kong Productivity Council Chairman

     The Government today (June 18) announced that the Chief Executive had re-appointed Mr Clement Chen Cheng-jen as Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) for two years starting from July 1, 2013.

     "Mr Chen has continued to make valuable contributions to the work of the HKPC during the past two years. Under his sterling leadership, the HKPC has made significant progress in strengthening its support for local industry, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises and Hong Kong companies on the Mainland, to meet market demands and seize opportunities arising from developments on the Mainland. We look forward to Mr Chen's able leadership to further the development of the HKPC and assist local industry to enhance its competitiveness," a government spokesman said.

     Mr Chen was first appointed Chairman of the HKPC in July 2009 and was re-appointed in 2011 for two more years until June 30, 2013.

     The HKPC was established in 1967 to promote increased productivity in Hong Kong. Its role is to provide integrated support to innovative and growth-oriented Hong Kong firms across the value chain. The HKPC's main sectoral focus is Hong Kong's manufacturing and related service activities, while its main geographical focus is Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. The HKPC provides its clients with a diverse range of support services in product development, consultancy, training and technology transfer.
