************************************************************

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, officiated and delivered a speech at a reception for the opening of the Hong Kong Movie Week of the New York Asian Film Festival today (June 10, New York time). The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, and Hong Kong international movie icon Jackie Chan also attended the reception.

Hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (HKETONY), partnering with the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) and the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the reception was followed by the NYAFF Star Asia Lifetime Achievement Award for Jackie Chan and a movie screening of his box office hit "Chinese Zodiac" at Lincoln Center. The film event ushered in a large-scale retrospective of Chan's movies from June 23 to 27, as well as the Hong Kong Movie Week of the NYAFF from late June to early July.

The Jackie Chan film events form part of the cultural programmes of the HKETONY in celebration of its 30th anniversary this year. Over 200 business leaders and dignitaries from various sectors attended the reception.

More information about the retrospective of Jackie Chan's movies can be found at www.subwaycinema.com.
