Short Films Contest for the Youth invites submissions
*****************************************************

The Short Films Contest for the Youth, which encourages young people to showcase their creativity, express themselves and inspire others, has started inviting submissions. It is organised by the Youth Programme Coordinating Committee of the Commission on Youth, and co-organised by the Home Affairs Department and the 18 District Youth Programme Committees. All Hong Kong citizens aged 29 or below are welcome to join.

The theme of the contest is "My Feelings, My Thoughts, My Hong Kong". Entrants are required to produce short films about Hong Kong and the communities they live in. The films, not exceeding seven minutes in length, should reflect the characteristics of local districts and inject positive energy into society.

The contest is divided into a secondary school category and an open category with a view to attracting more entrants.

Entrants in the secondary school category should enter the contest as a team and have to be full-time secondary school students studying in the district or recommended by local organisations in the district. They should submit entry forms to the respective District Youth Programme Committees with the recommendation of schools or local organisations by June 17.

Entrants in the open category may enter the contest as individuals or as teams. They must be Hong Kong residents who live, work or study in the district. Completed entry forms should be submitted online (youthshortfilmscontest.hk) by July 31.

The deadline for submission of entries is September 30. For each category, apart from best short film gold, silver and bronze awards, there are also best screenplay, best director, best actor, best actress, best film editing, best music and best cinematography awards. The winners will receive prizes and trophies.

The contest is one of the signature events under the "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign. Details and rules of the contest are available on the dedicated website: youthshortfilmscontest.hk.
