CE to visit New York

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will leave Hong Kong in the afternoon of June 9 for a duty visit to New York, the US, to attend trade promotion events organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

     Mr Leung will address the opening session of the "Think Asia, Think Hong Kong" symposium organised by the HKTDC and attend the "Hong Kong Dinner" for the closing of this promotional event in New York. He will also address a reception hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York, for the opening of the Hong Kong Movie Week of the New York Asian Film Festival.

     While in New York, Mr Leung will hold meetings with political and business leaders, including the Mayor of New York City, Mr Michael Bloomberg, as well as the National Committee on United States-China Relations, the Hong Kong-United States Business Council and the New York Stock Exchange.

     Also, Mr Leung will meet Hong Kong people who work and study in New York to keep abreast of their living conditions.

     Accompanying Mr Leung on the visit will be the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So; the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau; the Director of Information Services, Mr Michael Wong; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Nick Au Yeung.

     Mr Leung will leave New York on June 12 (New York time) and arrive in Hong Kong in the evening of June 13. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
