"2013 Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters" competition results announced (with photos)

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and organised by the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, the "2013 Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters" competition has selected 13 award winners out of 335 tea sets submitted by 244 entrants.

     The adjudication panel included Dr Lai Ming-hoi, Dr Tam Cheung-on, Mr Tsang Cheung-shing and Ms Wong May-lee. The museum also invited for the first time the ceramics expert Mr Gao Zhenyu from the Mainland to join the adjudication panel so as to enhance the standard of the competition.

     The competition was divided into a School Category and an Open Category. Basing their decisions on the criteria of the originality, creativity, technical competence and functionality of each entry, the adjudication panel selected winners for the first, second and third prizes in both categories, and winners for prizes of excellence in the Open Category.      Winners in both categories will receive cash awards. Cash awards of $8,000, $6,000 and $4,000 will be presented to the first prize, second prize and third prize winners in the School Category respectively, while cash awards of $16,000, $12,000, $10,000 and $2,000 will be presented to the first prize, second prize, third prize and prize of excellence winners in the Open Category. Certificates will also be presented to all winners and entrants whose works are selected for exhibition.

     An exhibition entitled "2013 Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters" will be held at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware from September 4 until September 8 next year. It will feature all the winning entries and some selected entries, offering members of the public an opportunity to appreciate the works of local potters.
