Fatal traffic accident in Tai Po

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tai Po this afternoon (May 12) in which a 5-year-old girl died.

     At about 3.40pm, a bus driven by a 54-year-old man and a private car driven by a 39-year-old man were traveling along southbound and northbound of Tai Wo Service Road West respectively. When reaching near Nam Wa Po, the private car reportedly collided with the bus.

     A 5-year-old girl on the private car sustained multiple body injuries and was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital where she was certified dead at 4.43pm. The driver, a 35-year-old female and a 2-year-old male passenger of the private car sustained injuries to legs, face and arms, and arms and legs respectively. They were also rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in conscious condition, and were later transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital for further treatment. The bus driver sustained head and chest injuries and was rushed to North District Hospital in conscious condition.

     The case will be handed over to the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North for investigations.
