Assistance provided to Hong Kong residents in traffic accident in Nanning, Guangxi

     Regarding a traffic accident in which 17 Hong Kong residents were injured in Long'an County, Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (Guangxi) last night (May 6), a spokesman for the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) said two immigration officers from the Immigration Division of GDETO had arrived Long'an County today (May 7) to offer practical assistance to the concerned Hong Kong residents.

     Upon learning of the incident, the Immigration Department and the Immigration Division of GDETO immediately contacted the travel company, relevant government departments in Guangxi and HKSAR and actively followed up on the case.

     A total of 17 Hong Kong residents, five men and 12 women, were injured in the accident. All of them were admitted in local hospitals for treatments. Among them, the conditions of three were more serious.

     GDETO will continue to follow up on the incident and maintain contact with the concerned Hong Kong residents, travel company, relevant Mainland and HKSAR government departments to render practical assistance.
