The Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, will leave Hong Kong tomorrow (May 1) for a week-long visit to London and Berlin.
Mr Lai will meet with British and German ministers and officials to update them on the latest developments in Hong Kong, in particular the law and order situation. He will also exchange views with them on issues of common interest.
While in London from May 1 to May 4, Mr Lai will call on the Home Office, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Association of Chief Police Officers and Serious Organised Crime Agency. He will also speak at a luncheon hosted by the Hong Kong Association.
Mr Lai will then proceed to Berlin from May 5 to 7 for meetings with senior officials of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Federal Ministry of Justice, Federal Police, Berlin Senate Department of the Interior, and Berlin Branch Office of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.
He will return to Hong Kong on the afternoon of May 8.
