Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession in Kowloon on Sunday
******************************************************

     The Transport Department (TD) today (April 25) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Kowloon from about 11am this Sunday (April 28) to facilitate the holding of a public procession.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

Road closures
-------------

     Traffic lanes on the following road sections will be intermittently closed from about 11am:

1. The section of Maple Street eastbound between Yu Chau Street and Cheung Sha Wan Road;
2. The section of Cheung Sha Wan Road northbound between Wong Chuk Street and Boundary Street;
3. The section of Nathan Road southbound between Boundary Street and Jordan Road; and
4. The section of Jordan Road westbound between Nathan Road and Canton Road.

Public transport services
-------------------------

     A total of 44 bus routes operating in the affected areas will be temporarily diverted. The relevant public transport operators will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic on Cheung Sha Wan Road, Nathan Road and Jordan Road will be affected. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected area. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport services.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to watch out for the latest traffic news on television and radio.

     Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are available on the TD website (www.td.gov.hk).
