**********************************************************

A spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (April 25) reminded ticket holders to the opening ceremony of the 4th Hong Kong Games (HKG) to attend the show on time.

The opening ceremony of the 4th HKG will be held at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground, Chai Wan, at 7pm this Saturday (April 27). The ceremony will mark the official launch of the Games and exciting sports competitions will take place in the following five weeks.

The opening ceremony consists of solemn ceremonial proceedings and a series of wonderful cultural and entertainment programmes. During the ceremonial proceedings, London 2012 Olympic Games gold medallists Ms Wu Jing-yu (women's taekwondo) and Mr Dong Dong (men's trampoline) will join local elite athletes, including cyclist Ms Sarah Lee, to take part in the lighting of the Games cauldron. The cultural and entertainment programmes will include performances by the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, as well as a grand illusion show by renowned local magician Mr Avon Lee. Local pop-singer Mr Hacken Lee and girl groups As One and Super Gear will also join the show.

The spokesman advised members of the public who have admission tickets to make good use of the chance to attend the show as scheduled. Those who are unable to turn up on the day due to unforeseen circumstances may pass the tickets to relatives and friends so as to avoid wastage.

"Ticket holders can enter through the specified gates from 5.30pm and take their seats in the specified zone. Each ticket admits one person. LCSD staff will be there to assist," the spokesman said.

He also advised ticket holders to allow ample time for travelling to the venue in order to avoid a last-minute rush before admission.

     Ticket holders are urged to take public transport. They may go to the sports ground by bus routes 8P, 8X, 82, 82X, 85, 106, 118, 606, 682, 788, 789 and A12; or by Green Minibus routes 20, 20M, 47M, 62 and 62A.

Free shuttle buses will be provided between Heng Fa Chuen MTR station and Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground from 6pm to 10.30pm on the night of the opening ceremony. Passengers must produce admission tickets when boarding the shuttle bus and each ticket is valid for one person only.

"Upon entering the sports ground, the audience should comply with the venue rules to avoid causing inconvenience to others," the spokesman said.

Those without entry tickets can watch the highlights of the ceremony to be broadcast on the TVB Jade channel between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on the same night.

The 4th HKG is organised by the Sports Commission and co-ordinated by the Community Sports Committee with the 18 District Councils; the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China; relevant National Sports Associations; and the LCSD as co-organisers. The Hong Kong Jockey Club is the principal contributor.
