Police take action to stop breach of the peace by protestors
************************************************************

Police appeal for cooperation from the organiser of a public procession which was held in Central today (April 24), again without prior notice to the Police according to the law.  Police urge the organiser to communicate and cooperate with Police in order to discuss appropriate crowd management arrangements with a view to ensuring the public event can be conducted in a safe and orderly manner.

The protestors conducted a public procession in Central today without prior notice to the Police according to the law. During the procession outside No 2, Queenˇ¦s Road Central, the protestors blocked the passageways intentionally and pushed the security facilities there, endangering their own safety and the safety of other people. Despite repeated appeals and warnings issued by Police, the protestors refused to follow and continue their shoving behaviour, causing breach of the peace and injury. Police therefore took corresponding action to stop the illegal acts.

Police reiterate that any illegal acts will be handled according to the law and in an impartial manner. Police will consider following up on the liabilities of the people concerned.

Police emphasis that we respect peopleˇ¦s rights of expression, freedom of speech and assembly. Police appeal again to the protestors that they should abide by the law and order of the society and express their views in a peaceful and rational manner.
