Defibrillators on standby at LCSD venues
****************************************

Easy to use high-tech lifesaving devices are becoming common fixtures at Leisure and Cultural Services Department venues across the city, from swimming pools to soccer pitches.

These automated external defibrillators can deliver an electric shock to allow the heart to return to its normal rhythm. Spoken step-by-step instructions make them as simple to use as a mobile phone, for quick results that save precious seconds that can save lives.

Senior lifeguard Alan Hui describes his experience in using a defibrillator to rescue a drowning swimmer, while Leisure & Cultural Services Department Chief Leisure Manager Alice Heung notes their use can boost the survival rate by 50 per cent.

The story appears today (April 21) at news.gov.hk in both text and video format.
