FEHD orders Sham Shui Po siu mei and lo mei shop to suspend business for two weeks
************************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a siu mei and lo mei shop in Sham Shui Po to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area and allowing staff to prepare food in open space.

The siu mei and lo mei shop, located on the ground floor at 23D1 Boundary Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (April 17) to April 30.

"In November last year and this February, two convictions for the breaches were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $3,500 was levied by the court and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for failing to store open food properly in the premises in November 2011 and last March. A total fine of $3,500 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in June last year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
