4th Hong Kong Games to share sporting spirit with entire community (with photos)
*********************************************************

The 4th Hong Kong Games (HKG) will take place from April 27 to June 2. Some prelude activities for the HKG including the Cheering Team Competition for the 18 Districts and the Elite Athletes' Demonstration and Exchange Programme have come to a successful close. More spectacular events are set to come, sharing the sporting spirit with the entire community and drawing public participation.

Over 3 000 athletes from different districts are gearing up for the Games. In the coming two months, they will be determined to win for their districts in the eight competition events, namely athletics, badminton, basketball, futsal, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball. The competition schedules have been uploaded to the 4th HKG designated website, www.hongkonggames.hk. Members of the public may spend some leisure time to watch their favourite sporting games and cheer for the athletes they support.

The HKG opening ceremony will be held at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground on April 27. The programme of the opening ceremony and other related arrangements will be announced at the Games' countdown ceremony to be held on April 9. People interested in attending the opening ceremony should follow the announcements.

All competition results will be announced at the 4th HKG closing and prize presentation ceremony to be held at Kowloon Park Sports Centre on June 2.

Other public participation activities are now in full swing. Members of the public can vote for "My Favourite Sporty District" and guess the "Overall Champion of the 4th Hong Kong Games". Entry forms are available at the District Leisure Services Offices and sports centres under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). Completed forms should be returned to any offices or sports centres. They may also join the guessing and voting activities on the Games' dedicated homepage now. The closing date for entry form submission is April 27, and the deadline for online submission is May 12.

Photography enthusiasts shouldn't forget to carry along their cameras. They can snap pictures of the fascinating scenes at sports competitions and the opening ceremony of the 4th HKG and participate in the "Dynamic Moments Photo Contest". Entries should be submitted to the LCSD by June 10. Please refer to the Games' dedicated homepage for details. The wide variety of HKG activities suit everyone, and members of the public shouldn't miss out.

The HKG is a territory-wide and major multi-sport event. Other than the competing athletes, members of the public can also participate in different activities. With the slogan "Let's have Fun at the Games", the HKG welcomes all to join in.
