Appointments to Management Committee of Consumer Legal Action Fund

     The Government today (March 28) announced the appointment of Mr Lo Pui-yin and the re-appointment of Mr Matthew Lam Kin-hong, to the Management Committee of the Consumer Legal Action Fund.

     The appointments will be for a term of two years with effect from April 1.

     "We are grateful to Mr Lam for his continued contribution to the Management Committee. We are confident that with Mr Lo as a new member, the Management Committee will continue to manage the Fund efficiently and in a manner that best serves the public interest," a Government spokesman said.

     Mr Paul Shieh Wing-tai retired from the Management Committee on February 18. "We are grateful to Mr Shieh for his valuable service to the Management Committee during his term of office," the spokesman said.

     The Consumer Legal Action Fund was established in 1994 to provide financial assistance to meritorious consumer cases for legal action or other forms of assistance.

     The Consumer Council is the trustee of the Fund. The Management Committee assists the Consumer Council in managing the Fund and determining the eligibility of applications under the Fund.
