Invest Hong Kong encourages Tianjin companies to "Go Global" through Hong Kong (with photo)

     Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) today (March 27) encouraged Tianjin enterprises to build their brands and access global markets through Hong Kong, promoting the city's business advantages to Tianjin enterprises at an investment seminar.

     The seminar was organised by The Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in Beijing (Beijing Office), InvestHK and Tianjin Municipal People's Government Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office. It began with opening remarks by the Director of Beijing Office, Miss Cathy Chu, and the Deputy Director of Tianjin Municipal People's Government Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, Mr Zhao Jianling.

     In her welcome speech, Miss Chu said, ¡§Tianjin and Hong Kong have close economic and trade relations. Using Hong Kong as the base to go global fits the needs and interests of Tianjin enterprises, as they seek to lift their competitiveness and look overseas for growth and investment. Today's seminar lets Tianjin enterprises better understand Hong Kong's role and how they can make use of it as a platform to go global.¡¨

     During the ensuing seminar, Associate Director-General of InvestHK, Miss Victoria Tang, gave an overview of Hong Kong's business advantages. She said, ¡§Hong Kong is an international city with a good marketing network and diverse talent from all over the world, plus free flows of information and capital, world-class infrastructure, a sound and independent legal system as well as a low and stable tax regime. All these advantages mean that Hong Kong is the ideal starting point from which Tianjin companies can expand their overseas markets and ¡¥go global¡¦.

     She continued, "Given its leading status as a global financial, trade and shipping centre in Asia, Hong Kong plays a role in helping the rapid economic development of the nation. Mainland enterprises can leverage the city's mature and well-established service sectors including its expertise in financing, law, accounting and brand building during their global expansion.¡¨

     Other speakers at the seminar included Senior Manager of Collaboration of Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation Ms Annie Kong; Representative of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd Beijing Representative Office, Ms Judy Huang; Director of Corporate Secretarial, Head of Corporate Restructuring of KCS Hong Kong Ltd, Ms Frances Chan; General Manager of The Bank of East Asia (China) Ltd, Tianjin Binhai Sub-Branch, Mr Leo Wang; and General Manager of Container Liner Dept of China Ocean Shipping Agency, Tianjin, Mr Tian Li. Each spoke about Hong Kong's business advantages in their respective fields and encouraged Tianjin enterprises to expand overseas using Hong Kong's facilities and services.
