Secretary for Security visits Kowloon City District (with photos)

     The Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, visited Kowloon City District this afternoon (March 11). Mr Lai exchanged views with District Councillors, local residents, students and operators of social enterprises to learn about their views and concerns regarding the district.

     Accompanied by the Chairman of the Kowloon City District Council, Mr Lau Wai-wing, and the District Officer, Mr William Tsui, Mr Lai first met with some District Councillors to listen to their views on the needs and concerns of the district.

     He then went to Hau Wong Road where he visited local shops and chatted with shop operators and residents to learn about their daily life, as well as listening to their views on the law and order situation in the district.

     Mr Lai later proceeded to Lok Sin Tong Primary School and chatted with students from ethnic minorities. Last on his programme was a visit to the Project Dance Studio which is operated by Jockey Club Farm Road Youth S.P.O.T. of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.

     The Project Dance Studio is a social enterprise which obtains funding from the Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme. The project mainly provides dance training, business start-up advice and employment opportunities for youths.

     Mr Lai chatted with youths participating in the project and watched their dance performance.
