Taiwanese coffee shop chain Coffee Alley announced today (March 1) that it has opened its first cafe outside Taiwan in Hong Kong. Its intention is to bring the rich tradition of Taiwanese coffee culture to the city and tap into customers' increasing taste for coffee.

The new cafe is located in Causeway Bay, a hot spot for young locals and international visitors looking for new and exciting places to try.

Coffee Alley owner Mr Ho Tat-sing said, "The pace of life in Hong Kong is fast. Locals and visitors need places where they can relax and hang out. We're here to bring Taiwan's relaxing and enjoyable coffee culture to Hong Kong."

He added, "The opening of the new cafe in Hong Kong is our first step in branching out across Asia. We plan to open more cafes in Hong Kong and, depending on future developments, may open more shops in Mainland."

Coffee Alley is a well-established chain in Taiwan which serves a wide range of coffees plus popular dishes such as waffles and sandwiches.

The Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Andrew Davis, welcomed the opening of Coffee Alley in Hong Kong and said, "Coffee, like wine, has become an increasingly popular drink with many affluent locals, and discerning visitors from around the world, all of whom look for quality coffee outlets in which to enjoy the beverage and relax. Coffee Alley has obviously made the right choice to set up in Hong Kong, and eventually, I hope, will expand into other parts of Asia including Mainland."
