Joint school concerts to share warmth of love through music
***********************************************************

A series of joint school concerts under the title "Love & Music" is being presented by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Primary and secondary school students participating in the series' six concerts are showcasing their creativity through a variety of musical performances and sharing the warmth of love with audiences. The first concert was held successfully in early February, and the remaining concerts will take place in March and April.

The concert on March 2 (Saturday) at 3pm in the Ko Shan Theatre will feature several choral performances, including the theme song of Hayao Miyazaki's animation "Spirited Away"; Sam Hui's song on parental love; Sweden's traditional music piece "How Great Thou Art"; Massenet's "Elegie"; and "Tale as Old as Time", a theme song from "Beauty and the Beast". There will also be a school performance with music, dance and a story, as well as a hand bell ensemble playing Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring".

The concert on March 23 (Saturday) at 3pm in the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall will present Klaus Badelt's "Pirates of the Caribbean" and Handel's "La Rejouissance" by an orchestra ensemble; choral singing in "Unfailing Love", from a Bible story; and more.

To encourage students to strive for excellence in music, creative thinking, communication skills and team co-operation, various awards including those for Outstanding Performance, Meritorious Performance, Judges' Appreciation and Theme Presentation will be presented at the concerts. Members of the audience will also be invited to vote for the Audience's Favourite Award at each concert to support students' performances and to enhance interaction during the concerts.

Tickets priced at $40 are now available at all URBTIX outlets for the concerts to be held on March 2 and March 23. Half-price concessions are available for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 and above, people with disabilities and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. Credit card bookings can be made at 2111 5999, and Internet bookings can be made at www.urbtix.hk.

The remaining joint school concerts will be held on April 3 (Wednesday) at the Auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall and on April 13 (Saturday) at the Auditorium of Tuen Mun Town Hall. Tickets will be available one month before the concert dates.
