FEHD orders Mong Kok restaurant to suspend business for three weeks
********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Mong Kok to suspend business for 21 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area.

The restaurant, Fuk Loi Kui Restaurant, located on the ground floor at 379E Portland Street and at 4-6 Ki Lung Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (February 23) to March 15.

"Between March and November 2011, a total of six convictions on the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $23,400 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," the spokesman said.

The licensee lodged an appeal to the Licensing Appeals Board, which decided to suspend the licence for 21 days in place of cancellation of the licence.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
