Exhibition on Andy Warhol's works receives 100,000th visitor (with photo)

     The "Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal" exhibition currently being held at the Hong Kong Museum of Art has been well received by art lovers since it opened on December 16 last year, and it received its 100,000th visitor in the afternoon today (January 29).

     The 100,000th visitor to the exhibition was greeted warmly by the Chief Curator of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Ms Eve Tam, and the representative from the exhibition's lead sponsor, BNY Mellon, the Chief Operating Officer for the Asia Pacific Region, Mr Dean Stephan, and was presented with a souvenir pack.

     Since its opening, the exhibition has attracted great attention from admirers of contemporary art. Attracting average daily attendance of 2,623 visitors, the exhibition has recorded single-day attendance as high as 4,510 visitors.

     The Hong Kong Museum of Art has organised a number of popular exhibitions. Among these, the "Imperishable Affection: The Art of Feng Zikai" exhibition held in 2012 received almost 450,000 visitors with an average daily attendance of more than 2,500 visitors, the exhibition "The Pride of China: Masterpieces of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy of the Jin, Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties from the Palace Museum" held in 2007 attracted more than 157,000 visitors with an average daily attendance of about 3,600 visitors, and the "Impressionism - Treasures from the National Collection of France" exhibition held in 2005 received more than 200,000 visitors with an average daily attendance of 5,000 visitors.

     The "Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal" exhibition is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Andy Warhol Museum, and is organised by the Andy Warhol Museum in collaboration with the Hong Kong Museum of Art, with BNY Mellon as the lead sponsor. The exhibition is also supported by other sponsors including Christie's, the Economist and Bloomberg as the media sponsor. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is the sponsor of the exhibition's art appreciation programme.

     Divided into four sections according to different stages of Andy Warhol's artistic career spanning from the 1950s to the 1980s, the exhibition features a wide array of works by the artist, including paintings, drawings, photographs, screen prints, sculptures and films and videos. Some self-portraits as well as portraits of celebrities taken by Warhol with a Polaroid camera are also included. The exhibition will run until March 31.

     The Hong Kong Museum of Art is located at 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. The opening hours for the "Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal" exhibition are from 10am to 8pm daily. It will be closed at 5pm on Chinese New Year's Eve. The museum is closed on Thursdays (except public holidays) and the first two days of Chinese New Year. Admission to this exhibition is $20 on Monday, Tuesday and Friday to Sunday, and $10 on Wednesday. A half-price concession is available for full-time students, senior citizens and people with disabilities. Free admission is available for Museum Pass holders and children under 4 years old.
