Support social enterprises and enjoy caring consumption
*******************************************************

It's time for Lunar New Year shopping! One of the more meaningful choices you can make is to buy goods or services from stalls operated by social enterprises. Social enterprises funded under the Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership (ESR) Programme of the Home Affairs Department (HAD) will showcase a variety of products and services at the following two events:

FarmFest 2013
-------------

Five social enterprises (list at Annex 1) will sell their products, including locally-produced organic vegetables, organic/health food, fragrant potted herbs and eco-friendly goods at the FarmFest 2013 to be held in Fa Hui Park, Mong Kok. The event will run from noon to 8pm on January 18 as well as from 10am to 8pm on January 19 and 20.

Lunar New Year Fair
-------------------

In addition, four social enterprises (list at Annex 2) will set up booths selling health food, environmental-friendly goods and eco-tourism products at the Lunar New Year Fairs at Hong Ning Road Recreation Ground in Kwun Tong and Morse Park in Wong Tai Sin, to be held from February 4 to 9.

A spokesman for the HAD said that the aims of arranging for social enterprises to participate in the events are to enhance public awareness of social enterprises and to encourage people to use their products and services.

"Our mission is to promote self-reliance and caring consumption. Public support is the key to the success of social enterprises. The simplest and most direct way to support them is through consumption of their products and services," said the spokesman.
