LARTE Campaign musical premiere promotes filial love (with photos)
***********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Family Council:

The Family Council staged a musical premiere at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai tonight (December 27) to promote the importance of filial piety through the performances of young talents. The musical is a programme under the "Love And Respect Thy Elders" Campaign (LARTE Campaign).

The Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Raymond Young, attended the premiere to show his support for the young performers. He thanked the performers for their efforts put into the musical and said he believed that through today's activity the younger generation would have new insights on filial piety and think about how to put it into practice.

He encouraged family members to think more from each other's perspectives, respect different styles of living and enjoy closer family ties.

The musical is the highlight of the LARTE Campaign, with performers recruited by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). The Family Council, together with RTHK, will stage the musical in secondary schools in the territory in the next few months to help promote the message of filial love to more young people.

The LARTE Campaign is co-organised by the Family Council, the Commission on Youth, the Elderly Commission and the Women's Commission. Following the launching ceremony in August this year, different activities were organised to encourage every family member to respect the elderly by putting love, concern, respect and care into action.
