Prize presentation ceremony cum exhibition of design ideas competition for planning study on future land use at Anderson Road Quarry

     The Director of Planning, Mr Jimmy Leung; Chairman of Kwun Tong District Council, Mr Bunny Chan; and Chairman of Sai Kung District Council, Mr George Ng, today (December 8) officiated at the prize presentation ceremony cum exhibition of design ideas competition on "Quarry Park and Rock Face for the Planning Study on Future Land Use at Anderson Road Quarry" (the Study) at the City Gallery in Central.  

     "The creative ideas of many entries could help enhance the design of the future Quarry Park and turn existing rock face into an iconic landmark belonging to Hong Kong," Mr Leung said in his opening speech at the Ceremony.

     The Competition is part of the Stage 2 Community Engagement of the Study. Subject to the feasibility study, the design ideas and concepts gathered from the entries will be incorporated in the design of Quarry Park and the rock face as appropriate.

     A total of 23 entries were received in the Competition. The entries were assessed against six criteria, namely, creativity and iconic value, design and aesthetics, harmony with existing and planned developments in the surrounding area, functionality and practicability, sustainability, and presentation. Three winning and five merit entries were selected by a seven-member Jury Panel comprising Mr Bunny Chan, Mr George Ng, Professor Patrick Lau, Mr Bosco Fung, Mr Leslie Chen, Mr Dominic Lam and Professor Leslie George Tham.
