*********************************************************

The Town Planning Board today (December 7) announced the publication of the Draft Pak Sha O Development Permission Area (DPA) Plan.

The area, covering about 33.27 hectares, is surrounded by the Sai Kung West Country Park. A spokesman for the Town Planning Board said the general planning intention of the area is to protect its high conservation and landscape value and the rural settings which complement the overall natural environment and the landscape beauty of the surrounding Sai Kung West Country Park. The planning intention is also to reflect the existing recognised villages of Pak Sha O and Pak Sha O Ha Yeung.

About 1.38 hectares of the area is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect the existing recognised villages. The remaining 31.89 hectares of the area is designated "Unspecified Use" to give statutory protection to the Area subject to further studies to establish the appropriate land uses in the course of preparing an Outline Zoning Plan.

The draft Pak Sha O DPA Plan is now available for public inspection during office hours at the secretariat of the Town Planning Board; the Planning Enquiry Counters of the Planning Department in North Point and Sha Tin; the Sha Tin, Tai Po and North District Planning Office; the Tai Po District Office; and the Sai Kung North Rural Committee.

Any person may make written representation to the Secretary of the Town Planning Board on or before February 7, 2013.

Copies of the draft plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
