A 38-year-old man was sentenced to a Community Service Order of 120 hours today (December 3) at Eastern Magistrates’ Courts for making a copy of a false instrument (section 72, Crimes Ordinance (Cap. 200)).
The Court heard that Police received a report from a female bank customer in April 2009, alleging her signature was suspected to be forged. Police Commercial Crime Bureau took over the case and after in-depth investigations, the officers arrested the 38-year-old male bank customer manager. He was suspected to have submitted a copy of the bank's 'Personal Risk Analysis Form' with the forged customer's signatures in order to obtain the approval from the bank for the application for subscribing for the structured products.
The arrestee was subsequently charged with one count of making a copy of a false instrument. He was convicted and the sentence was handed down today.
