The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) will throw a Halloween party at its Mong Kok Donor Centre (MKDC) this Saturday (October 27) from 6.30pm to 9.30pm for blood donors.
The centre's volunteers will dress in costume for the Halloween party and special snacks and drinks will be served. A spooky photographer will be standing by to capture special moments and take photos of the donors. Each donor will also be presented with a festive telephone stand (see attached). BTS hopes donors will bring along their family and friends to give blood and spend a fun and meaningful evening together. The MKDC is located at 11/F, Ginza Plaza, 2A Sai Yeung Choi Street South, Mongkok (Mongkok MTR Station Exit E2).
All BTS's donor centres will be festooned with Halloween decorations to create a fun blood donation experience during Halloween Blood Donation Week between October 26 and 31. Every donor will also receive the telephone stand while stocks last.
Moreover, to provide a cozier environment and better service to blood donors, MKDC will undergo refurbishment in four phases starting from next Thursday (November 1). The project will be completed around mid-December. During the refurbishment, the centre will remain open with the same business hours. Its opening hours are from noon to 9.30pm from Mondays to Saturdays and noon to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays. The overall quality of service will be enhanced after the refurbishment.
During the refurbishment, part of the centre will be inaccessible and the number of donor beds will be reduced, which will inevitably increase the waiting time. Donors are advised to allocate more time than usual if they go to MKDC to give blood. BTS apologises for any inconvenience this may cause to donors and appreciate their understanding.
Donors who usually go to MKDC can continue to donate blood there or consider the other donor centres located at King's Park Rise, Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan, Shatin, Yuen Long, Central and Causeway Bay during the affected period.
