The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
At the meeting of the Legislative Council (LegCo) House Committee held today (October 19), the nominations and elections of Members for appointment to three committees for the current LegCo term, including the Public Accounts Committee, the Committee on Members' Interests and the Committee on Rules of Procedure, were conducted.
After the elections of members to these three committees, the House Committee meeting was suspended for 15 minutes to enable the members to elect their respective chairmen and deputy chairmen from amongst themselves. For the Public Accounts Committee, Mr Abraham Shek and Mr Paul Tse were elected Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the committee respectively.
For the Committee on Members' Interests, Mr Ip Kwok-him and Ms Emily Lau were elected Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the committee respectively; whereas Mr Tam Yiu-chung and Mr Alan Leong were elected Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Rules of Procedure respectively. The meeting of the House Committee resumed and the results of the elections of the chairmen and deputy chairmen of these three committees were then endorsed by the House Committee.
Recommendations of the House Committee in regard to the membership of the three committees will be submitted to the President for appointment. Details of the membership of the three committees are available in the attached list.
