FEHD orders Mong Kok restaurant to suspend business for three weeks
********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Mong Kok to suspend business for 21 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by allowing staff to prepare open food in open space.

The restaurant, located at Shop No. 2 on the ground floor at No. 1L-1R Fa Yuen Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (October 17) to November 6.

"Between May and September last year, four convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $8,000 was levied by the court and 45 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. In the light of the Municipal Services Appeals Board's decision, the restaurant was ordered to suspend business for 21 days," he added.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
