Transcript of remarks by S for S
********************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, at a media session after attending a radio programme today (October 6):

Reporter: Mr Lai, about the investigation into the ferry collision, can you tell us how far the investigation has gone?

Secretary for Security: The Police are now working on two fronts. First, they have boarded and will continue to board the two boats to collect all necessary evidence. Secondly, they are now conducting interviews on the survivors and witnesses to ascertain what they know so that they can piece up all available information to map out what happened in that night. In this connection, the Police have already set up a hotline and the Police have also requested those witnesses to come forward to provide information. They have also set up a desk at the Lamma Island pier because we believe that during the incident, quite a number of Lamma residents were on board one of the vessels. Through the setting up of this desk, the Police hope that they can obtain more information from eye witnesses on board the ship.
