17 building plans approved in August

     The Buildings Department approved 17 building plans in August, with five on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, five were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments, and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 17 building projects that, when completed, will provide 96,669 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1025 units, and 133,863 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 15 building projects.

     The department also issued 22 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 106,575 sq m, involving 854 units, and 440,430 sq m for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in August totalled about $11.8 billion.

     In addition, seven demolition consents involving seven building structures were issued.

     The department received 4,142 reports about unauthorised building works in August, and issued 1217 removal orders on unauthorised works.
