*********************************************************

The government youth portal Youth.gov.hk today (September 17) launched a mobile video application (app) which is compatible with the Android platform. The original version on the iOS platform has also been enhanced, providing a better and more convenient mobile application experience for both smartphone and tablet PC users.

Android and iOS smartphone users can now enjoy digital videos by using the Youth.gov.hk app. Users can also find out about activities in their locality using the map. The map feature alerts users to current events in which they might be interested. Once the app is activated, exciting activities or exhibitions nearby will be highlighted. If users want to learn more about the activities, they can call the organisers directly with one click. The app is free and can be downloaded from Google Play and App Store by entering Youth.gov.hk in the search box.

Additionally, by using this app users can enjoy a variety of practical and interesting videos at any time. These videos include introductions to government jobs, green videos and winning entries by Hong Kong students. "Career Kaleidescope" invited government officers to share their working experience and talk about the interview skills youths need for related jobs. Jobs featured include executive officer, management services officer, police officer, immigration officer and customs inspector. "Freshtube" introduces the city's various environmental programmes, raises youth awareness of the environment through videos, and features environmental short films and award-winning animations created by secondary school students. This app also features students' winning entries from numerous video competitions, providing a platform for youths to showcase their creativity.

Youth.gov.hk is a one-stop portal for young people providing an online service and public information on events, interest classes and competitions as well as special features covering a variety of topics. The portal seeks to help today's youth by extending services to new platforms and opening up new opportunities. Visit the website (www.youth.gov.hk) to learn more.
