LCSD launches "My Culture" mobile application (with photos)
***********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) launched the brand new "My Culture" mobile application today (September 5), presenting new information on the latest cultural programmes to the public in a timely manner whenever it becomes available.

The app covers an array of cultural events organised solely or jointly by the LCSD, including cultural presentations, venue partnership scheme events, film programmes and special exhibitions organised by the museums.

In addition to being able to browse current events under the section featuring programme highlights, users can search for cultural programmes by genre, venue, date or keywords with a few taps of the screen. By tapping the "What's Nearest" screen, the current location will be pinned on a map using the global positioning system and the nearest cultural venues will be marked.

When should the audience applaud in a classical music concert? What are "water sleeves" in Chinese opera? Answers to these are provided in categorised blurbs that are easily obtainable by tapping the "Trivia" button to learn some basic points concerning the performing arts and other fields.

The "Bookmark My Events" function can assist in event scheduling by tagging favourite programmes so that users can revisit them easily through "My Events". If one has decided to attend a programme, one can tap the "Calendar" button to add and synchronise the event details to the calendar. In addition to using an email sharing function, users of popular social networks like Facebook and Twitter can share information on their favourite programmes easily with friends.

Moreover, users can get connected to the URBTIX online ticketing system or the telephone ticketing service under the "Tickets" function.

The iPhone and Android versions of the "My Culture" app are available in English, traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese. The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play or at the following link: cima.lcsd.gov.hk/myculture.

App information is updated at four regular intervals during the day. While every effort has been made to incorporate all upcoming major cultural programmes, the app does not provide exhaustive information for all cultural programmes staged at the LCSD venues. For full programme information and related fringe activities, users are requested to visit the LCSD's website at www.lcsd.gov.hk.

The iPad version will soon be released.

For enquiries, please contact the LCSD by email: mobile@lcsd.gov.hk.
