The Government announced today (August 31) the appointment of the chairman and members of the Legal Aid Services Council (the council).
The Chief Executive has appointed Dr Eric Li Ka-cheung as chairman of the council, and Ms Anna Kwong Sum-yee, Ms Juliana Chow Hoi-ling and Mr Billy Ma Wah-yan as members of the council.
The Chief Executive has also re-appointed Ms Virginia Choi Wai-kam, Mr Antony Michael Delaney, Mr Witman Hung Wai-man, Mr Edward Leung Wai-kuen and Mrs Cecilia Wong Ng Kit-wah as members of the council.
The terms of appointment of all members are two years, starting from September 1, 2012, except for Mr Delaney, whose appointment is for one year.
The Director of Legal Aid is an ex-officio member of the council.
The council is responsible for overseeing the administration of the legal aid services provided by the Legal Aid Department and advising the Government on legal aid policy.
