Special traffic arrangements for public procession in Wan Chai and Central districts this Sunday
**********************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (August 16) reminded the public that special traffic arrangements would be implemented this Sunday (August 19) to facilitate a public procession to be held in Wan Chai and Central.

The procession will depart from Harbour Road Garden at about 10.30am this Sunday for its destination at Exchange Square. The procession will take its route via Harbour Road westbound, Fleming Road flyover southbound, Fleming Road southbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound, Queen's Road Central westbound, Pedder Street northbound and the footbridge outside World Wide House.

Intermittent lane closures along the procession route and intermittent closure of Fleming Road flyover southbound will be implemented during the procession.

Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport services as far as possible. Motorists should avoid driving to the affected areas. The TD anticipates that Harbour Road and Fleming Road will be congested for a short period of time. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of directions of the Police in the affected areas.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and members of public should follow the latest traffic news broadcast via radio and television channels.

Details of the Transport Department Notice are available at the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For further queries, please contact the 1823 Call Centre (Tel: 1823).
