One-stop finder for charitable fund-raising activities launched on government portal (with photos)
*******************************************************

A one-stop finder on charitable fund-raising activities approved by different government departments has been launched on the government portal GovHK to provide easy and convenient access to such information.

The finder (www.gov.hk/fundraising) puts together information on flag days and other fund-raising activities covered by the Public Subscription Permit issued by the Social Welfare Department, on-street selling activities for charitable purposes covered by the Temporary Hawker Licence issued by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, and charitable lottery activities covered by the Lottery Licence issued by the Home Affairs Department.

"Through the finder, people can obtain information on the charitable activities easily and conveniently on a single webpage. They can browse the list of approved activities of the day or simply search by date, location, organisation and more," a spokesman for the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) said.

"The finder is also optimised for display on mobile devices. Wherever they are, the public can check whether the charitable fund-raising events they chance upon while on the go have been approved by the Government," the spokesman said.

OGCIO will continue to work with other government departments to roll out different types of joined-up and citizen-centric e-government services with a view to bringing convenience to the public, the spokesman added.
