Fresh curriculum a recipe for success

     Repeating Secondary Four and transferring to the New Academic Structure was a turning point for 20-year-old Shum Ming-kit, who now knows he wants to become a chef.

     Ming-kit gained self-confidence and a sense of achievement in the kitchen, where his life goal became evident over a two-year applied learning course in Western cuisine. Last year, he was given the Applied Learning Scholarship to recognise his excellent performance in the course. Even before the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination results were released, the Vocational Training Council admitted him into a Western cuisine certificate course.
