Transcript of SEN's remarks
***************************

Following is a transcript of remarks by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, after attending the meeting of the Legislative Council Panel on Environmental Affairs today (July 4):

Reporter: Secretary, do you think that you have let down legislators when you did not convey a blueprint or your plan over the next five years?

Secretary for the Environment: I think the Councillors are giving very fair comments. They do have high expectations about how Hong Kong's environmental conservation can be progressed in a more solid and speedy way, but to be sympathetic I am new here, and this is my second working day. I have to work with my colleagues in the Bureau and the Department and to work out all the details. Certainly I have my aspirations about all these, but I have to work out a practical, workable plan, so that I think it takes time to work out all the details and the roadmap. As mentioned earlier, we have a few months at least before the policy address to work out the Hong Kong green city blueprint, so let's have more time to think about that in detail.
