Hong Kong video premieres in heart of Beijing (with photos)
***********************************************************

A specially commissioned Hong Kong video is now being screened in Tiananmen Square in the heart of Beijing as part of promotional plans to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

The video was launched on June 27 to tie in with the opening of the "Towards a Better Future" exhibition at the National Museum of China in Beijing, staged by the HKSAR Government.

The video is now being shown on two giant LED screens installed to the north of the Monument to People's Heroes, and will be shown daily for the next 12 months.

It is estimated that about 450,000 people a day pass through Tiananmen Square.

Measuring about 40 metres by 7 metres, the LED screens are the biggest developed by Mainland enterprises and were used for the first time at the National Day Parade marking the 60th Anniversary of the People's Republic of China in 2009.

The Hong Kong video forms part of an initiative by the Publicity Department of Beijing Municipal Committee to use the LED screens in Tiananmen Square to broadcast films that showcase the culture and achievements of the different provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and special administrative regions of China.

Entitled "Hong Kong: Asia's world city", the video provides a vivid impression of Hong Kong as a city full of vitality and creativity strategically located on the southern coast of China.

It also highlights the attractiveness of Hong Kong as a trade, business, exhibition and tourism hub.

The 10-minute video takes viewers on a journey through the city from the first rays of dawn through to the evening lights.

A re-formatted version of the video suitable for display on conventional TVs has been sent to Hong Kong's offices in the Mainland and overseas offices for use in their promotional activities. It will also be uploaded onto the Information Services Department's YouTube channel soon.
